Has anyone confronted Facebook with this material they are hosting on their platform that is killing young people?
You have to see this to believe it. It’s a new one one me, but these “games” or “challenges” ares something parents need to know about so they can warn their kids. Unbelievable. Who thinks of this stuff?
When someone has to have TOR or a special browser to access these challenges on the dark web, it’s a big red flag.
I am continually amazed at people’s willingness to jump on a bandwagon, whether it’s tatoos or Angry Birds, the Ice Bucket Challenge, or Candy Crush, but teens and young adults are exploratory, open minded and can easily be lured.
Some are dying over these latest threatening hoaxes—and worse. It’s effectually a dare—and some kids can’t resist the chance to test themselves.
One is like a twisted version of a grab bag. The “victim” pays a flat sum for a “mystery box” that could contain literally anything.
The difference with one of these “games” is that the player has to record themselves and upload the video so everyone can see them open the box. So prying eyes are getting satisfaction from viewing them and their response.
It’s creepy—like a less violent form of a snuff film. One seems like it may have an occult spiritual aspect to it, but it’s hard to say from a video.
The Momo Challenge is even worse and the violence is over the top.
I have to wonder where the kids are getting the money for these challenges.
